Single Dwelling in Mas Alba

Interior

This is the project for four bedroom dwelling. This house divides the program in two floors.  In the lower floor, there are the living room, kitchen and a guest room. In the main floor, there are the main rooms for the family, including a master bedroom with walk-in wardrobe and open concept bathroom.  The home also has an attached garage with space for a car and technical appliances.

This house scores the highest efficiency rate, “A”. This rate can be achieved thanks to its isolation, design and green features like photovoltaic solar panel and aerothermia.  This system can generate hot and cold water to keep the house heated in winter and cold in summer.

Outside

The main design idea is that the main rooms are on a floating box over the ground level.   We creates open spaces for living room connected to the garden outside the house and pavement terraces.  The main level opens to south and east for views and better sunlight.   The north facade has no windows, so we avoid views from the outside and improve thermal isolation.  The floating box on first floor, also creates a large covered area next to the swimming pool, as it’s designed like a big cantilever in one the sides.  Some of the technical isolation solutions we’ve used, were also the solutions we’ve built in a recent finished work in La Plana.

Structure

Finally, the structure of the house it’s very simple. This decision allows us to build an easy and cheap structure.  It has to lines of columns on the north and southside, with a continuous concrete beam which hold the first and second floors and also creates the cantilever for the terrace next to the living room.
