Housing La Carrerada Vilanova

This project is located in the area of ​​La Carrerada, Vilanova i la Geltrú Barcelona. It is a proposal for a contest, but it was among the finalists.  186 units occupy two entire blocks of the city. The location is in one of the highest points of the city.  This means that it has panoramic views over the city.  Six different blocks have all the proposed units.  Each block has five floors and a basement floor.  The vehicle parking occupies this underground floor, but wide private terraces occupy the roof.

Typology

All the blocks have different distributions. Consequently, we find all types of housing typologies.  These range from 2-bedroom homes to 4-bedroom duplex homes. The objective is to obtain the optimal distribution. In addition, the houses are equipped with large balconies. Also most units feature open distribution with american kitchen, and also suite bedrooms with bathroom.

Exterior design

The balconies create a volume in the facades.  Firstly, continuous aluminium profiles connect each floor.  In this way, they provide rhythm and stand out on the building’s facades. Finally, these volumes extend to the roof.  Also, the distribution of the buildings allow unobstructed views from the homes. This design allows views over Vilanova i la Geltrú and the sea.

Building’s features

The buildings have a ventilated facade.  In consequence, we obtain maximum energy efficiency.  For instance, some of the efficiency features are Aerothermal system, mechanical ventilation with heat recovery and solar panels. Buildings aimed to get most energy efficient label.  Also, living rooms are located on the south facade and bedrooms on the north facade.

Urbanization and services

The urbanization has multiple services for the owners.  For example, some of them are swimming pool, paddle court, concierge and large gardens and solarium areas.
